Deputy Head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council to Speak at Freedom Party Academy in Vienna on June 22

At the invitation of Freedom Party Academy president Ewald Stadler, on June 22, 2006 (the day after President Bush’s departure) two high-ranking Iranian officials will be meeting in Vienna. Following an introductory presentation by Mr. Stadler, Javad Vaiedi, deputy head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, will give a speech entitled, “Iran’s peaceful nuclear program: the rights of signatories of the non-nuclear proliferation treaty.” Mr. Vaiedi will then discuss Iran’s current status vis-à-vis the 5 + 1 offer.
Following this, Dr. Sewed Mohammad Tabatabaie, General Director of the Institute for Political and International Studies in the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will speak on “Iran’s relationship with the European Union.” Dr. Tabatabaie is also the Iranian foreign ministry’s leading expert on US policy. The event will be held before an audience of invited guests on June 22 at 7:45 pm at Palais Eschenbach, Eschenbachgasse 11, 1010 Vienna.
The speakers will hold a press conference at the conclusion of the event at which members of the press will have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions. Simultaneous translation in German, English and Farsi will be provided for the entire event, including the press conference.
